The Ministry of Health and Wellness is warning members of the public not to engage with or share a viral video circulating on social media that falsely uses the image and voice of the health minister commenting on a blood pressure pill.
The video also uses the image of a senior reporter at The Gleaner.
The ministry says the video, which appears on Facebook and other platforms, is “fake and clearly AI-generated” and misleadingly promotes a blood pressure medication.
It is urging the public not to share the content, click on any associated links, or attempt to purchase any products being advertised.
The ministry is also cautioning Jamaicans to obtain medical advice and health information only from official sources, including licensed doctors, hospitals, health centres, or its authorised agencies.
