Man charged with murder of Riverton City woman

A 27-year-old labourer has been charged with murder in connection with the fatal shooting of a 21-year-old woman in Riverton City, St Andrew in February.
Charged is Tyreke McCalla of Weymouth Drive, Kingston 20.
Along with murder, he is charged with possession of a prohibited weapon, unauthorised possession of ammunition, and using a firearm to commit a felony.
The deceased is Kada Chambers.
Reports from the Seaview Gardens police are that about 7 p.m. on Friday, February 6, Chambers was walking in her community when McCalla, who was allegedly armed with a firearm, approached her and opened fire.
She was reportedly shot in the head and back, and the assailant fled the area on foot.
Chambers was transported to hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Following investigations, McCalla was apprehended and subsequently charged based on statements recorded and a question-and-answer session.
