JLP hails ‘victory for rule of law’ after court rejects election challenge by Paul Buchanan

THE EDITOR, Madam:

Regarding the above captioned article in your publication, when judges make decisions they act in the public interest so it is important that the decision is clearly explained/laid out for the public to understand. Below are my questions:

Does the law allow Mr Buchanan to file for judicial review, before he had a decision to be reviewed by the court?

Is the delay between the time of the first decision (that Mr Buchanan asked to be reviewed) and the time of filing the judicial review application or does the timeline start from election date?

Did the judge state the timeline and explain how she calculated the “time” and whether any part of that “time” was tolled for any reason?

As for me, I see no rule of law that should be celebrated. Until I have answers to the questions I asked, I will hold that what I see is obstructionists unleashing obstructionism on the nation.
