JN Bank plans to expand its network of ATMs across Jamaica to more than 200 by 2027.

That’s a 40 per cent rise from the bank’s “140 ATMs” currently in operations islandwide, according to its website.

“Cash recycling has helped us revolutionise our branch network so that we can focus on serving members, having conversations and being more consultative,” said Ricardo Dystant, JN Bank’s chief of digital transformation and special projects, in an international release seen by the Financial Gleaner. “We plan to expand our self-service network to more than 200 ATMs by 2027.”

Dystant said the bank is also exploring mobile wallet integration and new self-service channels with Diebold Nixdorf.

JN will partner with US banking technology company Diebold Nixdorf to replace older units with smart cash recyclers that can accept deposits and immediately recycle that cash for withdrawals.

The new machines allow cardless deposits, real-time posting of funds to accounts, and feature built-in anti-skimming technology. They are monitored around the clock through global management tools that can detect and fix problems before machines go offline.

Since the roll-out began in 2025, nearly 60 per cent of the network has already been upgraded to the new DN Series 200V machines, with recyclers now making up more than 90 per cent of the smart fleet. Installation is being handled by MC Systems, Diebold Nixdorf’s local partner in Jamaica.

The upgrade also carries regulatory weight. The Bank of Jamaica introduced minimum standards for ATM uptime and recovery times in 2024 and has been monitoring compliance across all deposit-taking institutions. The central bank said in its 2025 annual report that the standards have already produced measurable improvements sector-wide.

Chad Buckland, Diebold Nixdorf’s senior vice-president for North America Banking, said the partnership delivers on financial inclusion. “Our cash recycling technology empowers banks to reduce operating costs associated with cash-in-transit, forecasting and manual cash handling, while improving reliability and enhancing the customer experience,” he said.

JN Bank first introduced real-time ATM deposits without envelopes in 2010, making it among the first bank in Jamaica to offer that service. It serves nearly one million members.
