Marquies Page of St Jago High School delivered a dominant performance on day four of the ISSA GraceKennedy Boys and Girls Athletics Championships, setting a new boys’ Class Two 110m hurdles record on a night of milestones.

Page clocked 12.98 seconds to erase the previous mark of 13.26 set by St Jago's Vashaun Vascianna in 2019, becoming the first Class Two athlete to dip below the 13-second barrier.

Such was his dominance that several competitors were still approaching the final hurdle as he crossed the line.

The record-breaking run came just two days after disappointment in the 100m, where Page was disqualified in the semi-finals for a false start.

He will enter Saturday’s final as the overwhelming favourite for gold.

A Night of Records

There were several standout performances across the programme as multiple Champs records were broken.

Jaeden Campbell of Excelsior High School produced a commanding run in the boys’ Class Two 400m hurdles final, breaking Jeremy Farr’s record of 51.44 with a winning time of 50.87 seconds.

He finished well clear of the field, with Kavion Minnott of Hydel High School taking silver in 52.49.

Tiana Marshall of Wolmer's Girls' School became the first Class One athlete to go below 13 seconds in the girls’ 100m hurdles, clocking 12.98 to break Oneka Wilson’s previous record of 13.00 in the semi-finals.

Azaria Harris of Alpha Academy also set a new mark in the girls’ Class Three 80m hurdles, running 10.80 to eclipse Camoy Binger’s 10.87.

Michael-Andre Edwards of Jamaica College capped his Champs career with a second gold medal, winning the triple jump with a best mark of 16.25 metres.

He added that title to his long jump gold secured on day two.
